What's Your Excuse?: 7 People Who Will Inspire You to Overcome It
We all come up with reasons why we can't do everything we want to do. Too old, too small, too short, too tall, too busy, not fit enough, not strong enough, not coordinated enough, not enough money, the list goes on. But these aren't reasons, they're excuses. Most standard excuses like these can be overcome if the will is strong enough. Find that a little hard to swallow? Sure, it is. Excuses are what make us feel better about never really trying. Well here are 7 people who don't make any excuses for what many would call their "disadvantages". These people will inspire you with their examples.
Kyle Maynard: Wrestler, Crossfit trainer & Gym Owner
Patrick Henry Hughes: Multi-Instrumental Musician
Jessica Cox: Pilot, Taekwondo Black Belt, Scuba Diver
John Bramblitt: Award-Winning Painter
Dick and Rick Hoyt: Race Athletes (Marathons, Triathalon, Ironman, etc)
Lena Maria Klingvall (World Record Holding Swimmer, Professional Singer, Writer & Artist)
(See the follow-ups to this video: Part 2, Part 3, Part 4.)
These people have all faced more adversity than an average person will ever face, but if anything it's driven harder toward achieving their dreams. These people don't see their disabilities as such, believing that they have their own special gifts often times because of them. In Chinese, the character used for "crisis" is also used for "opportunity." Every crisis or problem presents an opportunity, but we must keep our minds open and our wills strong to see it.
After watching these videos, look to yourself and ask: what's your excuse for not pursuing a goal? If it's simply that you're not motivated or inspired by the goal itself then perhaps it's time to drop it and focus on something that does inspire and motivate you. Because really, if these people can pursue their goals with their "disadvantages", the average person has no excuse.
