Jiu-jitsu / Judo Throws for Stunt Performers

Mar 29th, 2020
  • Jiu-jitsu / Judo Throws for Stunt Performers

A well-executed throw is a great way to add punctuation and drama to fight scene. They are also becoming more commonly used in action films. Think John Wick. And when it comes to performing them for film, for best results, it's a 2-person job. In this workshop, you'll learn how to structurally work with your partner as thrower and throwee to produce more spectacular and impactful looking throws that look great on camera. Using this concept, you'll learn a variety of throws that will add to your arsenal of knowledge that you can draw upon for performing fight scenes.

This class will be taught by stunt performers Lori O'Connell (5th degree black belt in Can-ryu Jiu-jitsu) and Chris Olson (3rd degree black belt in Can-ryu Jiu-jitsu). You must already have a comfortable base knowledge of breakfalls, either from having taken our Intro to Technical Breakfalls for Stunt Performers workshop, or from other martial arts/stunt experience. If you haven't taken the intro course, please get in touch with us first to make sure this workshop is a good fit for you.

The cost of the class is $70+GST. Space is limited to 14 people, so please sign up early to avoid disappointment.
